5 Electrician Myths You Probably Still Believe

As electrician new farm, we occasionally face difficulties, as I'll explain below. Some people hold antiquated beliefs from a time when the sector was less regulated. Here are 5 electrician myths that you undoubtedly still believe - and which are false!

1) You don't have to be an electrician to do some home rewiring.

This is not true, and it is quite dangerous! To become an electrician, you must first have an industry-recognized qualification, which is obtained over a 2-4 year apprenticeship. In order to qualify, the apprentice also has block release at college with course work and a final test at the end. This implies that the trainee is exposed to a variety of jobs, gaining valuable experience and safety. If you know someone who knows "a little bit about electrical wiring," you may be putting yourself in risk. We are experienced because of our training and variety of jobs. As more households and businesses utilise technologies that draw a lot of power, any rewiring should be done by a certified electrician to avoid overloading and fires.

2) That all you have to do is cross your fingers and hope for the best.

This is not correct. If you hire an electrician, make sure they are NICEIC or SELECT registered. This means that NICEIC-registered contractors are evaluated on a regular basis, and you can be confident that the work will be safe and of high quality. The NICEIC has what is known as the NICEIC Platinum Promise. This means that if the work is of low quality and the electrician was NICEIC but is no longer registered or has ceased trading, they will take efforts to correct the situation. You will not have to worry if you hire a registered electrician.

3) They never show up when they say they will.

That may be true of some electricians, but we like to think we're unique. Some electricians will overwork themselves and, as a result, will always be late. We recognise that work comes in at various rates, but we also appreciate that our customers may have made particular arrangements to be off work and present for our visit. So we will always strive to arrive when we say we will and will phone ahead if we are going to be late. We run a business, and we understand how disappointing it is when our customers are dissatisfied with us.

4) They never complete tasks when they claim they will.

Sometimes jobs take longer than expected due to the complexity of the work, or unexpected complications arise. We don't want to overrun since we want to finish the task and move on to the next. As technology needs within houses and homes expand, so does the complexity of the project, and hence the time it takes to accomplish is sometimes longer than expected. Above all, we want to make sure the job is done safely, which may need spending a bit more time on it.

5) They charge anything they want.

Before beginning work, most regulated electrical contractors will issue a fair and honest price. If complications emerge during the job that were not anticipated, there may be an additional price. It is analogous to a car mechanic discovering faults during a service that necessitate additional effort and parts. It is a good idea to get two or three quotations for the work, and if they are significantly different, look into reviews, qualifications, and experience to see why.
