It was only on reading about Spiti Valley that I knew that the place is something from another world – rugged terrain, ancient monasteries, and roads testing your mettle to the core. However, until one reaches Spiti Valley, one can never truly prepare for the experience.

Food is Simple Yet Comforting
The food in Spiti isn’t gourmet, but it’s wholesome and filling. I loved the simple foods like dal, rice, momos, and thukpa.
The best part about it was the freshness and the effort that went into it. It was all homemade and homely – just right after a day of traveling.
My advice based on my experience? Don’t expect much variation. Just eat what you can find there.
Travel Will Test Your Patience
Travelling to Spiti is never easy, because the roads could be difficult, weather conditions can alter unexpectedly, and things may not always go as planned.
There were instances when my trips would take longer than what I had anticipated, and there were times when I had to modify my schedule. But that is one of the things you will love about Spit
The People Make the Place Special
One of the most beautiful parts of my journey was meeting the locals. They are kind, humble, and always ready to help.
From offering tea to sharing stories about their lives in the mountains, every interaction felt genuine. It gave me a deeper understanding of the place beyond just its beauty.

Initially, before I planned my Spiti visit, I had a dilemma whether to plan alone, do self-planning or opt for Spiti valley tour packages. Ultimately, I settled for a combination of planning and package tours.
