What are Stellite GR 6 Round Bars?
Stellite GR 6 is a cobalt-based alloy used for wear-resistant applications. It contains chromium for corrosion resistance and tungsten for improved hardness. The alloy has excellent wear and corrosion resistance to some acids, alkalis, and other chemicals at high temperatures. Stellite GR 6 Round Bars consist of 16-20% chromium, 15-25% cobalt, 5-7% tungsten, 0.5-1% carbon, and trace amounts of iron and manganese.
Features of Stellite GR 6 Round Bars
The main feature of Stellite GR 6 round bars is their excellent wear resistance due to their high chromium content, which makes them resistant to abrasive wear. This alloy also offers good thermal stability and fatigue strength at temperatures up to 500°C (932°F). Its good fatigue strength makes it suitable for high-temperature applications where load cycles are low-intensity but frequent. The alloy is also non-magnetic with an average coefficient of thermal expansion from 11x10^6/°C at 20°C (68°F) up to 13x10^6/°C at 1000°C (1832°F).
The main benefit of using Stellite GR 6 round bars is that they offer superior performance compared to traditional materials while being relatively less expensive than other specialty alloys. The unique combination of wear resistance, corrosion resistance and fatigue strength allows them to be used in various industries where conventional materials cannot perform adequately under extreme conditions like high temperature or pressure fluctuations. Furthermore, they can be machined easily since they do not require special cutting tools like some other alloys, which further adds to their cost savings potential when compared with alternative metals like titanium or nickel alloys.
Applications Of Stellite GR 6 Round Bars
Due to its superior properties, such as wear and corrosion resistance, Stellite GR 6 Rods can be used in various industries ranging from aerospace to medical fields. It is commonly used in aircraft components such as engine blades, turbine seals and bearings; automotive parts; pump impellers; valve seats; gears; rollers; cutting tools; medical implants such as hip joint replacement components; dental implant components; prosthetic devices such as artificial heart valves etc. It can also be used in food processing equipment thanks to its low toxicity levels and ability to withstand exposure to various chemicals without adversely affecting physical or mechanical properties.
