Firstly, let us dive into what the trek has to offer in terms of the natural scenery. Despite being so close to Kathmandu, and lower than 4000 m, this trekking area presents some of the best exquisite views of the Langtang mountain range. Some of the peaks you'll get to witness up close during the trek include; Mt. DorjeLakpa, Mt. Gauri Shankar, Mt. Langsisa, Mt. Langtang, etc. It is not limited to the majestic sceneries of the snowy peaks, but the environment all along the trail is another thing that trekkers can look forward to. Another major element why everyone should consider trekking to Helambu is because of the people and the distinctive culture of the area. As most of the community of the region are descendants of Tibetan origin, you'll have once in a lifetime opportunity to witness and experience their lifestyle up close. Moreover, the Helambu Valley is home to the Hyolmo people who are renowned for having a unique culture. How to reach there and the route of the Helambu Trek

The trail for the Helambu trek goes through Shivapuri National Park, one of the national parks situated on the northern side of Kathmandu valley. First of all, the trek begins with 45 minute to 1-hour drive from Kathmandu to Sundari Jal. Sundari Jal is a getaway location for the people of the city area as it is near and filled with a serene environment. From Sundari Jal, your walk starts through Shivapuri National Park to Chisapani for the first day.

The next day you'll follow a walk through the hill to reach Kutumsang while enjoying the scenery of the Langtang Mountain range. On the way, you'll cross tiny villages like; PathiBhanjyang and Gul Bhanjyang. The trail further moves toward the dense forest from Kutumsang, leading you to Tharepati. Tharepati is the highest point of the trek, situated at an elevation of 3500m. You get to relish some of the best views of the mountains of the entire trek from this village.

From Tharepati, the trail takes on a descent alongside the Melamchiriver until you arrive at the Sherpa village of Melamchi. There are quite a lot of things you can look around in Melamchi village like the Buddhist monasteries situated in the village. Moving ahead, you'll walk through several other ethnic settlements and make it to a village named TarkeGhyang. There is no more walking from TarkeGhyang as you'll be heading toward Kathmandu on a rife. First, the drive takes you to Sarmanthang, then Melamchi Bazaar, and finally to Kathmandu where the trek officially ends.

Although the total number of days for the trek can depend on the walking speed of each individual, the Helambu trek can be completed by everyone within 6-7 days. Furthermore, as the trek lies in the Langtang region, you can combine it with other treks of the region such as; AmaYangri Trek and Langtang Valley Trek.

Best time to trek Helambu
