The world of LEGO is filled with endless possibilities! One way to make your builds stand out from the rest? Colours! Building in a rainbow of colours is way more fun than just one colour, and it’s easier too!

Why rainbow?

Many people worldwide are trying to give LEGO instructions a rainbow touch!

Some say it rids them of the pressure of meticulously sorting their collections to find the ‘right’ colour. It allows them to build more and faster. Many also say building with colours inspires them to be more imaginative and creative. And practically, this technique will enable people who can’t afford to buy whole sets to enjoy LEGO building still.

Tips For Rainbow Building

Here are some valuable tips from Judy, owner of BrickResales and builder of a cool rainbow R2-D2 for rainbow building:

To keep your bright rainbow effect, avoid using too many browns, greys, or blacks. When used everywhere throughout your build, these colours dull the light from other colours. It's a good idea to use LEGO brick pieces of different colours beside each other where possible. White can be an effective way of making the other colours stand out, and you'll want to add some printed parts for added interest, too!

Judy said, “It’s a good idea to have more pieces than you need for any given set to avoid placing the same colours next to each other – as much as 20 to 30% more if you can.”

TIP: Only have a few colourful bricks? Judy also sells bags of assorted parts and pieces, which is perfect for this activity! Visit her website.

Take your time and have fun with it! Choose your favourite set and get creative by trying new combinations - the point is for your creation to look uniquely yours.
