JetBlue is an excellent choice if you prefer to book a flight knowing that you'll be covered if your plans change. However, you must be mindful of the booked fare class. JetBlue did away with modification and cancellation fees back in 2021, but Blue Basic, their lowest fare class, is exempt from the flexible policy.
But you can't purchase a Blue Basic reward ticket. It typically doesn't cost much extra to reserve the fare above Blue Basic. You'll thus have some piece of mind with JetBlue if you need to reschedule or cancel a ticket as long as you don't buy a Blue Basic price.
Here is all the information you need to know about cancelling a JetBlue flight. You should know this before taking your next JetBlue flight or if your plans change.
Making a paid JetBlue reservation cancellation
There are up to five distinct pricing options when booking a JetBlue flight (depending on the route): Blue Basic, Blue, Blue Extra, Blue Plus, and Mint. There is no charge to cancel your JetBlue reservation before departure for the last four options, everything but Blue Basic bookings. Read further to know about cancelling Jetblue flight for free.
With these four fare classes, if your plans change and you need to cancel your travel, you'll get your whole payment back as a JetBlue Travel Bank credit — unless you elect to buy the "refundable" add-on option. Credits are valid for 12 months after being into your account. Although credits cannot be transferred from one travel bank to another, they can be applied to a reservation made by a different passenger. Jetblue airlines group travel will ensure that you get to chose from the most affordable rates.
However, if you paid for the cancelled ticket using credits, they will not extend the expiration date. The original expiration date will still apply to the credits.
Additionally, Blue Basic reservations are subject to a $100 to $200 cancellation fee. The cost is $100 per person for travel inside the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Central America. The cost for all other routes is $200 per person. The same terms as above apply to the travel credit you will then receive in your JetBlue Travel Bank, less the charge.
Additionally, owing to JetBlue's refund policy, you'll get a travel credit for the additional money. If you buy any add-ons to your flight (such Even More Space seats or baggage fees).
Only when you buy the "refundable" add-on at checkout or cancel your reservation within 24 hours of booking will you be eligible for a full refund. Only if you book your flight at least seven days prior to departure. The airline will add, with the latter, a fixed premium on top of your pricing. The airline will inform you of the fee to make your flight completely refundable as soon as you choose your ticket. This means that if you need to cancel your flight, you'll get your money refunded on the spot to the payment method you used. Rather than getting a travel credit.
How to revoke a JetBlue reservation
All of your upcoming flights are in Manage Trips in your JetBlue account. The blue "Manage flight" button will let you cancel your flight. Also, do not forget to call JetBlue en español telefono in case of any query or emergency.
Your whole flight schedule will be available. You can cancel your itinerary among the other flight management options at the bottom of the screen. You'll need to phone JetBlue to proceed with the cancellation if the buttons look grey. This can occur for a variety of reasons.
Before you complete the cancellation, you'll see a breakdown of how you'll get your refund on the following screen. For instance, the screenshot below shows that I cancelled a points-based overseas flight. It displays my Travel Bank credit and the quantity of points that needs reimbursing.
