Located near the Animas Museum, the brewery serves burgers, salads, and Southwestern-style food, as well as specialty items like blackened chicken. For the food, you can choose from a variety of menu items featuring beer-based ingredients, like beer cheese spinach artichoke dip or beer queso. The brewery will soon begin serving brunch as well.

Durango Beer and Ice Co.

Durango Beer and Ice Co. recently opened on the north side of Durango, in the same spot as Chainless Brewing. The brewery was formerly known as High Trestle Brewing. You can find them on Main Ave., at 3000. The food menu includes pub fare and great craft beers. The restaurant also offers on-site parking, so you can bring your dog to this dog-friendly spot.

Sully, a retired firefighter, was the vision behind Anarchy Brewing. He spent years on search-and-rescue missions, charging into burning buildings to put them out. He also spent time in emergency rooms. At age 51, he opened Anarchy Brewing Co., which is located just south of Macho's. The brewery features punk rock and other locally brewed beer.

During the late 1980s, craft breweries began to emerge, a welcome development for the local community. Large national companies dominated the industry, so the small, independent brewers felt supported. Chainless Brewing and BREW Pub & Kitchen closed abruptly in 2013, but Durango Beer and Ice Co. opened in the same spot. Both are now open to the public.

This restaurant offers bicycle-themed menus. The food is made with locally-grown ingredients, and the restaurant offers free tours of the brewing facilities. It has a warm, inviting atmosphere.
