Our team was very excited when we got the project to manage the construction of Brentwood Childcare Centre, giving children a place to grow for a better generation. This child care center construction project took place in Calgary and it took us four months to complete it in October 2016.
The Tenant Improvement project involved a 5300 sq. ft. area and it was all about constructing a childcare facility from scratch. We had to provide enough space for the children to move around easily, play and feel safe. The lighting had to be bright but less straining to the eyes. We went for shorter and wooden staircases for safety purposes. Our team opted for an open kitchen with shelves to ensure no exposure of kitchen appliances. The dining room was designed by us to be open and free.
The washroom was made more accessible with sinks having low height for making them child-friendly. And due to the fact that the day care was on a high ground, the outside play area was fenced for safety of the children and also to provide them with the maximum playing space. Kids love games and the more space available, the better the experience become. Bright color was chosen by us, and the interior decoration was made more playful and childish to make the children feel more at home. Our designers made sure that the child care center would not only be satisfactory to the client but also to those who would be working and using the facility on a daily basis.
