China's steel import and export from January to May 2025

1. Export

(1) In May 2025, China exported steel materials 10.578 million tons, an increase of 116,000 tons month-on-month, an increase of 1.1%; the average price was US$697.9/ton, an increase of 3.5/ton month-on-month, an increase of 0.5%.

(2) From January to May 2025, China will export steel materials in total 48.469 million tons, an increase of 3.958 million tons year-on-year, an increase of 8.9%.

2. Import

(1) In May 2025, China imported steel 481,000 tons, a decrease of 41,000 tons month-on-month, a decrease of 7.9%; the average price is US$1,749.9/ton, a decrease of 59.9/ton month-on-month, a decrease of 3.5%.

(2) From January to May 2025, China imported a total of steel materials 2.553 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 490,000 tons, a decrease of 16.1%.

(3)In May 2025, China imported iron ore 98.131 million tons, a decrease of 5.007 million tons month-on-month, a decrease of 4.9%; the average price was US$96.2/ton, a decrease of 1.9/ton month-on-month, a decrease of 1.9%.

(4) From January to May 2025, China imported a total of iron ore 486.409 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 26.572 million tons, a decrease of 5.2%.
