As it is a long-duration course with different levels, people often get confused about the details. Now, to clear up your confusion, read below to know all the details about the CA course

What is a Chartered Accountant?

A chartered accountant is a profession in which a person handles taxation, budgeting, financial advising, budgeting, and auditing for a business or person. This course is conducted by ICAI (The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India).  There are different job profiles that a CA can hold among which the top ones are:

Tax Accountant Banker Financial Manager Budget Analyst Auditor, etc.

The first step to move forwards in the journey is to pass the 12th exam with a minimum of 50% or you must be a graduate. With these criteria, you are eligible to apply for the CA course program. Moreover, there are three different levels to completely pass the course.

CA course Duration

Becoming a CA, including all the levels is a 5-year duration course. These 5 years are divided into three different levels. So, let us get into the details of the CA course about how to start with it.

Level 1: After passing the 12th, one needs to apply for a CA foundation course and register through the ICAI portal. So, the minimum time is 4 months between the registration and examination.

Level 2: After clearing the CA foundation, you will apply for the CA intermediate course which is further divided into two groups. The timeline between registration and examination is 8 months. Now, to clear CA intermediate- IPCC, one needs to clear both groups containing four subjects each.

Level 3: After clearing IPCC, a student will need to apply for an articleship that requires 3.5 years. Along with that, the timeline for CA final course is around 5 months. So, to become a CA, you will need to clear CA final exam along with completing the articleship.

Furthermore, if you are already a graduate, then you have one benefit over others. Graduate students can directly apply for the CA Intermediate course skipping the foundation part.

CA Course Fee

In India, the CA course fee can range from INR 50,000 - 80,000 including registration fee, exam fee, and more. However, the major amount of the fee goes into the registration process which is elaborated as:

CA Foundation: Rs. 9,800 IPCC registration fee: Rs 15,000 for both groups and Rs 11,000 for a single group CA Final: Rs 22,000

Furthermore, along with registration, one will need to also submit an exam fee, coaching fee, and other expenses. Also, people usually take coaching classes to get better knowledge and clear exams. Therefore, institutes like Commerce Academy provide CA coaching for different levels.
