Here I reproduce my blogger friend’s write up. He recently visited an orphanage and this blog is a narration of that experience.
‘Count blessings, rather than adding up to troubles’
Today is my graduation day and each gold medalist from respective department need to give their toast. I’m very excited for being one among them. As soon as my name was called out, I jumped up from my seat- this is my day and I have been waiting to deliver my speech! I glanced at my dad before beginning my speech. His eyes were wet with tears of joy!
When I was ten years old, my elder brother and I used to do role plays by being a police-thief, doctor- patient and so on. One of those role-plays has made me today. I said, “I want to be an engineer.” My brother who himself is an engineer today asked me, “which branch?” As a young girl , I didn’t understand his question earlier. As I grew little older to understand, I replied him in similar role-plays, “I want to be a robotic engineer.” “No”, said the brother, “you’re a girl, robotics is a boys branch.” “But”, I quickly replied, “Dad said that I can be a robotic engineer.” This young girl’s faith is the proof of that which I did not yet see, and I counted it as being already mine, because it had been already promised by my father. Thank you dad for helping me count my blessings and conquer the world. Thanks for your belle in me as well.
Like the story, I witnessed QtPi Robotics workshop at New Home (Reaching Hand, Bengaluru) where underprivileged children came to attend. I was thrilled to see several young girls were excited to participate and build their own robot. Perhaps this is the beginning to a new history where Robotics is going to gender neutral.
