Body piercing can be both a good way to express yourself and be a dangerous hobby that can cause permanent damage. Some people have body piercings that are so small they can’t be seen. However, there are plenty of people who choose to pierce their bodies with things that are way too big. They can cause infections and the piercing can even collapse under the skin. This can cause great pain, which is why proper body piercing care is so important.

What are body-piercing retainers used for exactly? In some cases, you simply want to downplay the size of your body piercing and if you have to do this, you want to keep the integrity of the piercing intact. You cannot always purchase invisible body piercing retainers, but you can purchase what’s basically the closest thing to invisible body piercing retainers. There are many different types of retainers and all of them have different shapes, sizes, and color patterns. Some of the most common types of body piercing retainers are discussed below.

Flexible Acrylic Tattoo: This type of piercing retainers looks like it would be great for small ear piercings or even navel piercings. These flexible acrylic retainers stay in place all throughout the night and so they don’t leave any residue on the skin. The problem with these flexible retainers is that they are not always the safest option as they can easily rip or break when inserted into the piercing. It’s always best to avoid the use of flexible acrylic tattoo retainers if at all possible. Always stick to the traditional piercings such as nose rings and eyebrow rings.

Barbell Shaft Retainers: These piercing retainers are usually used with larger barbells. They work in a similar fashion to flexible acrylic tattoos by allowing the pierced hole to hang down. They provide a secure hold to the barbell by “centering” the skin so that it stays in the piercing hole and doesn’t slide around. These are great for belly button piercings, nose rings, eyebrow rings, and lip piercings.

Bioflex: A new generation of clear piercing retainers, known as bioflex are made from a special material that is made just for use with jewelry. Made of a special clear material that is safe and soft to handle, bioflex jewelry holds its shape and holds its place just as well as traditional metal retainers do. Some of the best material to use for the production of these jewelry retainers are titanium and rubber. Another great feature about these bioflex jewelry retainers is that they do not tear up after prolonged use. Some of the most popular styles of bioflex jewelry retainers are rings, bangles, pendants, and finger rings. These pieces of jewelry often come in colors that will match the rest of the piercing and they do not have to be removed during exercise or daily activities.

Nose piercing: Just like belly button piercing, nose piercing retains the septum (the hollow area at the back of the nostril) in place and serves to protect it from infection. This is why nose piercing retainers are very popular in the fashion and entertainment industry. However, like a belly button piercing, nose rings also need to be taken care of so that they don’t become damaged and they don’t fall out during exercise or everyday activities. These pieces of body jewelry retainers are generally made of the same materials used with belly button rings. However, when these nose jewelry retainers are made of silicone, they don’t get as soft as traditional body jewelry retainers because of the stiff texture of the silicone. These pieces of nose jewelry retainers are very thin and very smooth, and they will typically stay in place for a long period of time.
