Dravid and Mhambrey should largely be appointed to support staff, but Dilip is a surprise inclusion. The 39-year-old is a Hyderabad squad field coach who was previously associated with India's A squad as well. The selection committee led by MSK Prasad, who interviewed the Indian team's support staff in 2019, rated him highly for his coaching skills. He has also completed the Level III training course.

The 20-member team, along with five net throwers, begin quarantine in Mumbai on Monday June 14 and are expected to depart for Sri Lanka on June 27 after 14 days of isolation. Upon arrival in Sri Lanka, the team were advised of a three-day hard quarantine, to be confined to bedrooms only, and three days of soft quarantine, after which the team will be allowed to train. said an SLC source.

Without pre-departure camp, coach Dravid reportedly insisted on training for at least seven days before the first game on July 13. ) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have set up facilities for the intra-team warm-up matches in Colombo. BCCI has already said all six matches will be played at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

No fitness test for players

In the meantime, we learned that the BCCI would not insist on a fitness test for the players. The relaxation of fitness benchmarks in the Yo-Yo test and the 2km run is believed to be due to the pandemic situation and the continued lockdown in the country. Otherwise, the selection committee, which included Varun Chakravarthy, who had twice failed the test in the past, would have insisted on fitness testing before announcing the team.
