Wear nothing white. Photographs of passports are taken on a plain white backdrop. Wearing a plain white shirt makes you appear washed out. If you must wear white, contrast it with a colorful jacket. A basic shirt or dress is preferred, although prints are OK if not very busy. Choose a hue that gives you confidence. Consider the color you wear when others say to you, "Wow, that's your color!" Consider Business Casual
Your passport photo is a great headshot, and you're stuck with it for the next 10 years even if you travel in sweats and a t-shirt. Make an effort to appear professional, at least from the waist up. Long Hair Doesn't Matter
If you have long hair, wear it down to show off the length. However, be certain that it does not block any portion of your face, especially your brow. Bangs can be pulled back with little clips, but headbands and other headgear are not permitted. Braids and locks can be pulled back neatly into a ponytail, but fine buns are not recommended. Ladies, it's fine to put on a little makeup for the shot, but don't go overboard. Stick to neutral colors and earth tones. Use a lip color that is similar to your natural lip color. If you have oily skin, carry blotting sheets to decrease shine, but a Tissue or napkin will suffice.
Glasses and Facial Expressions
There must be no frowning, smiling, or blinking in the shot. The individual must look directly into the camera, with their eyes visible. It is permissible to keep the subject's spectacles on, as long as they do not have hefty frames or tinted lenses.
Baby Photography Tips
When photographing your newborn, make sure nothing gets in the way - no toys, no pacifiers, and no hands of anybody holding the baby. Shooting your child from the top when it is laying on a spread blanket is a nice technique.
