Fix Garmin GPS not Working

If you've noticed that your Strava maps have recently seemed a bit off, it's possible that your running watch, not your imagination, is deceiving you. It's likely that your watch's GPS is experiencing widespread accuracy problems if you don't recall running that short circle or around a structure.

The issue, as described by DC Rainmaker(opens in new tab), appears to display a GPS map with the correct pattern but the run's course in the incorrect area. The path, for instance, will display that you have crossed water or run through a fountain. Although the problem was purportedly resolved yesterday night, here's what's happening and how to manually correct it if you're still experiencing problems.

Users of Garmin, Suunto, and Polar are said to have experienced issues last week on Tuesday, June 28, and Wednesday, June 29, as well as again from July 1 to July 5. The vast majority of the greatest Garmin watches are on the list of watches that are impacted, with the exception of those that were released in 2022 since they use a different chipset. Those watches with Sony GPS chipsets have been affected by the problem. Suunto, Polar, and all Coros watches, with the exception of the Coros Vertix 2, are also included.
