Jhene Aiko Starts #PennysPen Campaign
In honor of National Day on Writing, which falls on October 20, Jhene Aiko has launched a nationwide campaign that utilizes the power of self-expression through writing.
Calling the campaign #PennysPen (after her name in the recent short film she accompanied her album with), the week-long effort is a collaboration with nonprofit organization Get Schooled. Aiko announced the campaign on Twitter on Thursday and spoke about the importance of being able to express yourself through writing and how that very activity has personally helped her.

#PennysPen encourages students between ages 13-21 to share their writing pieces on social media using the hashtags #GetSchooled and #PennysPen, or by uploading their work on Get Schooled’s website. Top entries will get the chance to win a custom-designed notebook and pen.
Jhene’s #PennysPen campaign kicks off on Friday, October 20 and will run through October 27.
