Tired of setting goals every year without achieving them? Maybe it's time for a new approach. Before you pay your membership, you may want to analyze the past year to see what caused failure so you can avoid taking the same route. Likewise, working out in a group of likeminded people could be a game-changer as long as it is accompanied by a positive mindset.

Find a Gym Close to you

Living close to the gym or working in the vicinity will psyche you up any time. There are millions of excuses on why you can make it to Monday's class, but they reduce by half when you live a few minutes away.

Have a Plan

They say failing to plan is planning to fail. Starting with a plan helps you decide how you are going to tackle your fitness journey. You also want to make reasonable goals such as gaining more muscle and losing fat content. Go easy in your body as naturally the first few days will be hard and leave your body sore. Having realistic goals prevents you from jumping on the scale every few days.

Hire a Personal Trainer

Well, trainers are quite expensive and you may find them an unnecessary expense, but they will motivate you, keep you accountable, and help you see results faster than you can alone. Think of it as a form of self-investment that will yield results in due time. You don't have to hire the trainer for all year long – a few months could be enough to set the pace and give you the ammunition to continue the journey alone.

Find a Buddy

Everything is better with a buddy. Finding a person as motivated as you is a sure way to stay the course several months into a new year. Here's an idea: how about you and your buddy sign up for membership as a team (for the cost benefit) an also hire the same instructor at a discount? That will seal the partnership. Unfortunately it may take you longer to find a suitable partner than it would to find a disability lawyer

Start Small and Build up

Most people fail because they want results instantly and they are also in competition with other people that they find in the gym. First rule of any game is to be in competition with only yourself. Pressure mounts when you compare yourself to others especially as you find that you are not at par and that leads in frustration. If they have been working out for longer, then they are going to be better than you and you have to go at your pace to get to where they are. While at it, ensure that your diet is as clean as a whistle, but adding a little Japanese curry powder will not ruin a goof meal.

Switch off Digitally

You may want to take a few selfies to let the world know that you are the kind that works out a sweat, but that could interfere with your session. How about saving that for last? Turning your phone off at the start of your session removes all possible distractions.

Above all

Have fun in the gym. Switch up the workouts to remain motivated and to achieve the desired results. Get that body summer-ready!
