The Global Talent Visa provides individuals with the opportunity to conduct research worldwide, and the time spent on this visa does not count towards their maximum period of absence from Canada if they choose to apply for settlement. For example, when applying for a Global Talent visa, meeting the requirement of work beyond one's primary occupation can be achieved by having more than 600 individuals complete an online course or by delivering a lecture attended by over 150 people.

1.  Eligibility

Suppose you have received a referral from one of the approved partners of the Global Talent Stream and you are seeking to hire an individual possessing exceptional and specialized skills. In that case, you may be eligible for Category A of the program. However, it is important to note that if the occupation you are requesting is listed in the Global Talent Occupations List, it will be treated as a Category B application and must satisfy the specific requirements outlined for Category B.

Or

If you are looking to hire highly skilled foreign workers for in-demand occupations listed on the Global Talent Occupations List, you may be eligible for Category B of the Global Talent Stream. Unlike Category A, a referral is not necessary for Category B eligibility. As an employer applying through the Global Talent Stream, it is crucial to adhere to the program requirements. Additionally, you must meet the provisions and conditions specified in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act regarding the employment of temporary foreign workers. The Temporary Foreign Worker Program has implemented measures to verify and ensure employer compliance with these requirements. Employers who fail to comply may face consequences for their non-compliance.

2.  Processing Fee

For each job requested under the Global Talent Stream, a fee of $1200 is required to cover the processing of your application. When engaging in the recruitment of Temporary Foreign Workers, various fees and costs may be involved, including expenses associated with using a third-party agency. It is imperative that you, as the employer, clarify and make sure that no one is representing you or charging or recovering any recruiting costs from the TFWs, whether directly or indirectly. The Labor Market Assessment of Impact will result in a negative conclusion if this condition is not met.

3.  Talent Category

The Global Talent route welcomes two distinct groups of individuals: established professionals who can provide evidence of their leadership within their field and applicants who demonstrate promise and potential for future leadership. This pathway is open to professionals from diverse domains, including scientific research, digital technology, arts and culture (including film and television, fashion design, architecture), engineering, humanities, and medicine. These individuals are eligible to apply for the Global Talent route.

4.  Global Talent Visa Necessities: Digital Technology

Under the existing regulations, there is no specific limit on the number of Global Talent Visas that can be issued to qualified applicants in the industry. To receive an endorsement in the digital technology sector from Tech Nation, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

Individuals with technical skills who can effectively showcase their expertise in developing technological infrastructure and utilizing or leveraging technology stacks

Candidates applying for business roles who can provide tangible evidence of their demonstrated commercial, investment, or product-related competence in areas such as digital product creation or managing investments in prominent digital product enterprises.
