Turkish Tranquility And Moroccan Magic: Shilp Wellness

I haven’t had the chance to visit Turkey, but the allure of its culture and people fascinated me enough to lead me to Shilp Wellness. Situated on the outskirts of Mumbai, it stands as the first Turkish-themed high-end luxury spa in the area. Gaining popularity for its Moroccan hammam services, this wellness destination promises a taste of the Middle East. From the warm welcome featuring a Multani mitti tiki and a Turkish chadar to incorporating elements from Turkey, the experience ensures a refreshing chill.

Just when you think you’ve escaped civilization amid acres of greenery, a luxurious spa emerges. The façade is adorned with imposing and ornamental arches in shades of blues and turquoise, accented with touches of yellow gold.

Wellness First

Upon entering, 10-foot-high double doors set within a tall pointed arch greet visitors. The complex symmetrical geometry of miniature arches surrounding the doors, coupled with intricate detailing, creates a palace-like aesthetic. Shilp Wellness, designed by GMB Verve, draws inspiration from Middle Eastern hammams, elevating pampering to another level. The spa encourages clients to spend the entire day indulging in the various therapies offered.

Luxurious Accommodation At Shilp Wellness

Having visited numerous royal places globally, the regal experience at Shilp Wellness in Panvel was unparalleled. Inaugurated in November 2023, the four villas—Earth, Water, Fire, and Air—each exude opulence. I stayed in the Earth Villa and felt transported to Turkey the moment I entered. The room resembled a royal palace display, and the bathroom, with a private plunge pool, left me speechless. Every corner of the room radiated magnificence.

Food

The restaurant, an embodiment of an Arabian Nights fantasy, offered an enchanting ambiance. At such luxurious retreats, food is a major attraction, and Shilp Wellness did not disappoint. From the drumstick soup to the homemade gulab jamun, each dish was a perfect blend of taste, presentation, and service.

Must-try items include the drumstick ginger soup, garlic mushroom, falafel, beetroot carpaccio, biryani with garlic raita, and homemade gulab jamun with rabri. The server blesses the food before serving, emphasizing gratitude to farmers—a sentiment we should hold in our hearts before every meal.

Other Planned Activities

Speaking with Mr. Ashokan, the GM at Shilp Wellness, I learned about upcoming plans for yoga and chakra meditation sessions. Regarding the super-premium pricing for the villas, he explained that the tariff includes accommodation, food, two body massages, and a personal butler. While the planned tariff of INR 55,000 per night may seem steep, the overall experience remains to be judged until one has experienced the entire package.

Conclusion

My visit to Shilp Wellness was a fabulously memorable experience. The Turkish charm permeates through the architecture, interiors, and furniture, making every nook and corner of the property a testament to splendid design. It’s easy to forget you’re in India, believing instead that you’ve been transported to Turkey.
