A special thank you to the people at the Canada Post office was this gift box cake. They also deserve a huge thank you for helping me ship my Christmas Box Cake this year—I definitely used them! I thoroughly enjoyed creating the envelope. I chose to airbrush the red and blue stripes on the envelope's edge using a masking technique after discovering Stephane Klein and his incredible airbrushing abilities.  The stamp was cut by hand (the holes were made with a toothpick) and painted by hand.  I can lay out the gumpaste extremely thin for making the bow, and then I paint it with edible luster dust.First, there's a 6-inch square christmas box cake. We made a traditional chocolate cake, but it will undoubtedly turn out just as well with your own cake recipe. It can be a little scary to ice a square cake, but don't worry—your buttercream layer doesn't have to be flawless because of the rough holly leaves. A homemade red fondant bow adds the ideal final touch to this cake once the fondant leaves have been placed. A word of caution: in order for the bow to be sturdy enough to be placed on your cake after it's ready,

Be Sure To Create It At Least One Day In Advance.

When you're ready to decorate, begin by frosting your square cake, taking care to keep the borders square. (Don't worry too much about this stage; holly leaves will cover the majority of the surface). While you work on the holly leaves, put your cake in the refrigerator to stiffen up.Cake in a Holly Gift Box! Next, very thinly roll out 1/4 of your white fondant (you don't want the holly leaves to be too thick for the sides). Using a sharp knife, cut out fifteen leaves. Then, push down on the cutter to create veins, and remove the leaf with your hands.Cake in a Holly Gift Box! Give the holly berries room. The leaves shouldn't be pressed all the way down to the cake.

For Texture, Leave A Few Of The Edges Curled.
