Materials Needed:

  • Wax (soy, beeswax, or paraffin)
  • Wick (cotton or pre-waxed)
  • Container (glass jars, tin cans, or ceramic cups)
  • Essential oils (optional, for fragrance)
  • Crayons (optional, for color)
  • Double boiler or microwave-safe bowl
  • Wooden skewer or chopstick

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Wick:
  • Attach the wick to the bottom of the container using hot glue or a wick sticker. Wrap the top around a skewer balanced across the container to keep it centered.
  1. Melt the Wax:
  • Use a double boiler to melt the wax slowly. If using a microwave, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring each time.
  1. Add Fragrance and Color:
  • Once fully melted, stir in essential oils (about 10-15 drops per 8 oz of wax). Add a small piece of crayon for color if desired.
  1. Pour the Wax:
  • Carefully pour the melted wax into the container, leaving a bit of space at the top. Make sure the wick stays centered.
  1. Cool and Set:
  • Let the candle cool and harden for at least 4-6 hours (or overnight). Trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before lighting.
