To keep your home running efficiently, some consistent home maintenance chores must be scheduled and done. Aside from keeping from expensive structural damages, it is also cost-efficient and a more responsible thing to do. Taking care of problems right away is essential. For example, cleaning a dirty air conditioning filter or clogged drain ASAP requires less work and expense than getting a burned-out HVAC motor or a burst pipe—the lesser evil of things are on the plate of maintenance.

Here are ways in order for you to make home maintenance extra simple and less of a hassle. Making these homecare habits can go a long way in a relevant amount of time. Get a grip in taking care of your home with these extra practical tips:

Practice a proper maintenance routine.

On the other hand, aside from perpetually sweeping your floor to keep it clean, you must clean and maintain other parts of your home to keep them usable. From deep cleaning your basement to bed bug removal, here is a collated list of basic home maintenance tasks that is sure to keep your home running efficiently.

Inspect and deep clean your basement.

Dust it, clean any windows, and make sure the whole area is mold free. Although basements are easily neglected especially if they’re primarily used as a storage area, give this part of your home a good inspection and cleaning at least once a year.

Check the exterior of your home.

Closely inspect the entirety of your house and make repairs as needed. Is the paint chipping? Are there damages incurred from last winter? Are bricks dislodged? More importantly, check the foundation for any cracks.

Plumbing inspection for leaks and faucet aerators are a must.

A clunky aerator could result in poor water pressure out of your faucet, but luckily, fixing this is no rocket science. While you’re at it, you should also go around all your faucets and toilets and check for leaks.

Find permanent pest solutions

During summer, you wouldn’t have to look too hard to find any insect problems. Common bugs like ants, spiders, moths, etc. are easily handled. Simply keep cobwebs clear, have ant poison handy, and make sure doors are closed tightly.

However, pests like bed bugs can be more difficult to handle, and even professional pest control companies generally expect at least two treatments to completely get rid of them.  Bed bug removal is a process, and the duration depends on the method you choose. Should you encounter signs of infestation, contact your local bed bug removal professionals immediately.

Clean the garage.

Cleaning the garage should be done seasonally, especially if you’ve got multiple projects that you do in there – which might bring about extra dust. The garage is often neglected of regular care but keeping it clean will extend its life. Give it a thorough cleaning up at least once a year. You may even check all the tools and materials you keep in there.

Your house is in good hands!

Deciding to own a home is a major commitment, and the routine upkeep to ensure its best for years to come is a must. Regular maintenance, even tasks that need to be handled daily and annually, should never be overlooked.

Think of the adage, “Prevention is better than cure”—it strongly resonates with home maintenance where eventual repairs could get very costly and hurt your pockets in the long run. So, clean all that needs cleaning, repair what needs fixing, and call for a professional when needed. It is your home after all.
