Different Ways to Locate a QuickBooks .QBW file

Method 1: Locate Using Local C: Drive:-

At first, click on the Windows icon and then click on the Control Panel.

Select the Appearance and Personalization.

Go to the Folder Options followed by the View tab.

Choose the Show Hidden Files, Folders, Drives beneath the Advanced Settings.

Click the Ok option to view hidden files and folders.

Thereafter, select the Start icon> Computers and then double-click on the C: drive icon. 

Double-click the “Users” folder, then dDouble-click “Public” and then “Documents.”

Now, double-click on the Intuit folder and then QuickBooks folder. Further, double-click on the Company File Folder and look for the file having the .QBW file extension.

Once you get the file, right-click on it and then select the option from the sub-,enu if required. 

You are supposed to repeat step 1 once again if you are unable to see the hidden files and folders. 

Method 2: Locating via QuickBooks 

Click on the Windows icon > All Programs > QuickBooks folder and then double-click on the QB icon in the folder.

After this, double-cikc on the name of the company file from the QB startup screen. Press and hold the Ctrl + 1 key to open the Product Information window. 

Look for the directory path containing the QuickBooks .QBW file in the File Information section. Then, note down the directory path at a safe place for future use and close QuickBooks. 

Method 3: Locating Via Windows Search 

To begin with, click on the Start icon > Control Panel > Appearance And Personalization > Folder Options > View tab.

After this, select the “Show hidden files, folders, and drives” and then choose Ok to view hidden files on your computer.

Then again, click “Start” and type  “*.qbw” within the search box. 

Once you get the file, right-click on it and select the option you want from the sub-menu, if desired.

You are required to perform the same steps if you won’t see “Don't show hidden files, folders, and drives” under the Advanced settings heading.
