Studying in Australia is a fantastic chance to immerse yourself in the distinctive 'Aussie' culture while learning valuable new skills. Australia boasts world-class universities, practical vocational institutions, and great English language schools to assist overseas students.

An Australian student visa is the best thing to consider if you want to stay in Australia for a long time. You can qualify for a student visa by completing the following courses:

Courses in English (General English, IELTS preparation, Cambridge, etc.).Vocational Training (Business, Marketing, Tourism, Sport & Fitness, Hospitality, etc.).Courses at the university level (Bachelor's, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees).

Student Visa Advantages in Australia

Apart from allowing you to study in Australia, the Australian student visa offers several underappreciated and unique characteristics.

Working and studying at the same time is not a good idea.

Do you wish to augment your allowance or feel like you should do more with your time? Unlike most other study locations, where students are restricted to solely studying in a country, the Australian student visa allows students to work part-time while studying, subject to certain restrictions.

During your studies, you can work 40 hours every fortnight (2 weeks) (average 20 hours per week) and available number of hours during your school vacations. [Determined by the average academic year in which a student receives around a month of winter break and three months of summer vacation — and when combined with Australia's minimum wage regulations — some casual summer employment may add up to a good amount and assist in reducing your cost of living considerably.

The Temporary Graduate Visa allows you to work once you graduate (subclass 485).

Another distinguishing characteristic of an Australian student visa is that it allows students to work after graduation, subject to specific conditions. It's the first step in obtaining official work and applying for an extended stay in Australia.

Work arrangements for post-graduate students are typically divided into two categories: graduate work and post-graduate work.

According to the DIBP website:

Graduates can work in Australia briefly after completing their studies with the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485). It is divided into two streams: Graduate Work and Post-Study Work.

Graduate Work is for overseas students who graduate with skills and credentials related to skilled employment in high demand in the Australian labour market, as listed in qualifying skilled jobs. This type of visa is usually issued for 18 months.

The Post-Study Work stream gives qualifying graduates of a higher education degree more alternatives for employment in Australia. Successful candidates in this stream are awarded a visa with a validity term of two, three, or four years, depending on their highest educational qualification.

Include your dependants in your calculations (a spouse or your kids).

You can add family members or your partner to your student visa application. As a result, your spouse and/or children will be eligible to accompany you to Australia as beneficiaries on your student visa and subject to your exact requirements. If you are pursuing a master's degree, for example, your spouse will be granted full-employment privileges for the term of your visa.

Things to Remember About the Australian Student Visa

In Australia, the length of a student visa is three years.

Those unfamiliar with the notion of student visas can last for any length of time, although they are typically tied to the period of the program you have chosen. So, based on your course(s), it may be as little as 6 months or as lengthy as 5 to 6 years.

Hence,

Your student visa will be eligible for 6 months if you register for a 6-month course.Your student visa will be eligible for three years if you participate in a three-year program. To be qualified for a student visa, the program you pick must last between 12 and 52 weeks.

Once you complete your studies, your visa will be extended for the following periods, based on the duration of your course:

Your visa will be prolonged by one month if your course is less than ten months long.Your visa will be extended by two months if you are enrolled in a course that lasts longer than ten months. For courses lasting more than ten months and ending in December, your visa will be extended by three months.

The cost of a student visa

The current application price for a student visa is 560 Australian dollars. Regardless of the length of your study, the fee remains the same.

Please keep in mind that the pricing may differ based on where you apply for your student visa. The Department of Immigration and Border Protection has developed a pricing estimator tool to assist prospective visa applicants in rapidly obtaining a cost estimate for their application.

Renewal of an Australian student visa

As long as you are registered in a CRICOS-approved course, you can extend your student visa as many times as you wish. However, you should be aware that if you have previously had several student visas, the government may challenge the validity of your application.
