Discipline should never be about taking control of your child but teaching your child how to control themselves. Kids who are self-disciplined will be better equipped to face life's challenges, manage stress, and make healthy choices even when you're not around. Self-discipline helps kids delay instant gratification, resist unhealthy temptations, & tolerate the discomfort needed to reach their long-term goals. Learning self-discipline is a life-long process & all kids will struggle with self-discipline at times. You can teach these traits by making them follow a routine & making them respond to corrections in a positive way. Sports can teach kids how to work together as a team & teach them how to be responsible.
