Installing a Kitchen Sink: Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners

Step 1: Gather Your Materials and Tools

Step 2: Turn Off the Water Supply

Find the shut-off valves under the sink and turn off the hot and cold water supplies. If there are no shut-off valves, you may have to turn off your home's main water supply.

Step 3: Disconnect the Plumbing

Loosen and disconnect the faucet's water supply lines with an adjustable wrench. Put a bucket below to catch any remaining water in the lines. Disconnect the drain pipes from the sink drain assembly.

Step 4: Remove the Old Sink

If you are replacing an old sink, use a utility knife to remove any caulking or sealant around the edges. Once the sink is loose, carefully take it off the countertop and place it aside.

Step 9: Connect the Plumbing

Reconnect the water supply lines to the faucet, making sure they are tight and secure. Attach the drain pipes to the sink's drain assembly, then use plumber's putty to form a watertight seal around the strainer.
