A strong password is mandatory for accessing online accounts of all types to ensure the security of their digital lives. We all are advised time and again to keep distinct passwords for each service we use. Many of us tend to forget our passwords unless we have a password manager or have a superb memory.
One of these passwords is most likely to be of our google accounts which we often use to log in to Gmail or YouTube. Recently the tech giant Google’s move planned on simplifying our lives by making the online logins easy and quick, has made inroads to all epapers and best news app in Hindi. Google has recently announced that it would be rolling about a new feature which would allow an Android device to verify their identity by using fingerprint or screen lock instead of a password. It will roll out the feature via Google Play Services and would be made available on Pixel devices and all Android 7 and above devices in the next few days.

It’s very unique and consistent and has been used for identification for centuries and now have become automated because of the advancements in technology. It allows an individual to get verified or identified by analyzing and comparing his or her finger dermal ridges. It is one of the most well known and publicized biometrics. It refers to the automated method of identifying or recognizing the identity of an individual based on the comparison of two fingerprints.
Various apps have long been using the technique on the Android platform, this is the first time Google will use biometrics to verify user identities on the web. This new method of no password sign is built on FIDO2 standards, W3C WebAuthn, and FIDO CTAP. One of the very important benefits of using this technology would be that these biometrics would be available for web for the first time allowing the same credentials to be used by both native apps and for web, which means that users will have to register their fingerprint only once and then it would work with both the native app as well as for web. It is secure and is a two-factor authentication method. The protocol used is Bluetooth based which would be used to set up a device-specific security key. The key, in turn, can be used for the second level of verification without the need for a password. For this kind of login to work, it would be essential that the device should have a lock screen security code. The fingerprint is never sent to the Google servers and will be securely stored on your device. Only a cryptographic proof would go the server stating that you have correctly scanned your fingerprint.
