In 2007, an email hoax pleaded with American drivers not to pump gas on May 15th. The hope was that large oil companies would suffer great financial losses if millions of people refused to fuel up that day but it appears as though many numbers in this chain e-mail are either misleading or flat out wrong.
Snowball the Monster Cat
When the picture of an oversized cat was published on the National Enquirer’s front cover, many people believed it because they did not know any better. However, this 87-pound monster's story doesn't seem genuine at all and has been talked about by Jay Leno as well as Good Morning America!
It turns out that someone edited the image for giggles.

Although scams are usually serious, knowing the modus of a scammer can give you the ammo to have some fun instead. Once you know that the person you are speaking with is a scammer, you can choose to end the conversation or troll them in return.
