Mardi Himal Base Camp trek in Nepal is a relatively new trekking route in Nepal developed only in 2012 AD and it is now slowly becoming more popular among hiking lovers. The Mardi Himal trekking trail is located on the east side of Annapurna base camp and under the Fishtail (Machhapuchhre) mountain.
The Mardi Himal Trek goes through stone-built villages and farmlands of Nepal and the fishtail, Annapurna ranges and Mardi Himal are probably best viewed from this trail, the highest elevation of the trek is about 4500 meters above sea level which is the Mardi Himal base camp itself.
Mardi Himal trek can be started from Kathmandu or Pokhara however we have included your arrival and departure days to and from Kathmandu plus a day tour to visit Kathmandu. You have a tour in Kathmandu after your arrival in next day then take a drive or flight to Pokhara to start the trek.
Mardi Himal Trekking is designed for those trekkers who are looking for a fresh trekking trail in Nepal that offers you captivating views of mountain ranges, and rich vegetation along with the culture and lifestyle of the ethnic dwellers then this is just the perfect one for you.
This trail goes through five major village development committees. We will have numerous choices of trekking and hiking activities. The length of the Trekking can be decided by the trekkers as per their interest and time frame which is 5 days to 10 days trek.
There are many trekking programs in the Annapurna Region and some of them are ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, Annapurna Base amp Trek, Khopra Ridge Trek, Annapurna Circuit Trek, Upper Mustang Trekking, Nar Phu Valley Trek and Tilicho Lake Trekking.
Itinerary Detail of the trek
Day 1: Arrive at Kathmandu airport and transfer to the hotel
You arrive at Kathmandu airport, where one of our airport representatives picks you up and takes you to the hotel. He will inform you about the day program and leave you to rest for a few hours. Later, in the evening, you meet with the team members over the welcome dinner.
Day 2: Full day sightseeing of Kathmandu
You will go on a guided sightseeing tour of monuments like Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhnath Stupa, Swayambhunath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. All of these monuments will present you with a deep insight into Nepali culture and history. You will be guided by an experienced and knowledgeable tour guide who will brief you about the landmarks. Later, in the evening, you prepare for the trek and check all the gear.
Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara
After having a warm breakfast, you meet with your trek guide at the hotel lobby and drive to Pokhara. The drive follows the Trishuli River and offers scenic views of lush green hills, terraced fields, small settlement areas, and lovely waterfalls. Upon reaching Pokhara, you move to the hotel. The rest of the day is free. You can explore the nearby area of your hotel.
Day 4: Drive to Phedi and trek to Deurali
Today, after having a warm breakfast, you take a short drive to Phedi. From here, you begin trekking through stone steps and terraced fields. The trail further passes by small villages and takes you to Dhampus. You take a small lunch break here and continue trekking toward Deurali.
Day 5: Deurali to Forest Camp
The trail ascends through lush forests of rhododendrons and heads towards Forest Camp. On the way, you also pass by a few scattered settlement areas enjoying beautiful landscape views.
Day 6: Trek from Forest Camp to Low Camp
The day begins after a delightful breakfast. Trekking through dense forests, you move towards Low Camp. On the way, you can see impressive views of Mt. Machhapuchhre.
Day 7: Trek from Low Camp to High Camp
You get to see tempting views of Himalayan mountains like Annapurna South and Mt. Hiunchuli today. From Low Camp, the trail continues along the Mardi Himal ridge through the grassy path and isolated rhododendron forest.
Day 8:High camp to Upper Viewpoint then returns to High Camp
Today, you wake up early in the morning to catch gorgeous sunrise and breathtaking views of several snow-capped peaks. From the High Camp, the trail gradually ascends towards the Upper Viewpoint from where you get to see views of Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Mardi Himal, Mt. Hiunchuli, Mt. Machhapuchhre, Tent Peak, Mt. Singhachuli, BarahaShikhar, etc. Later, you descend to High Camp to spend the night.
Day 9: High Camp to Siding Village
The trail further drops down to Sighing village. You walk through lush forests and small settlement areas to reach this village. In Sighing village, you get to observe the daily lifestyle of the locals. To reach this village, you will be following a different route, therefore the views will also be different from the previous route.
Day 10: Trek to Lumre and drive to Pokhara
After having breakfast, you continue trekking towards Lumre. The trail descends from Sidhing village. Upon reaching Lumre, you drive back to Pokhara. You can use the rest of the day as per your wish. Explore the nearby areas and dine in the beautiful restaurant enjoying the sunset.
Day 11: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu
Today, you drive back to Kathmandu. The drive will follow the same route as before. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you head to the hotel. As the remaining day is free, you can stroll on the vibrant streets of Thamel and do shopping.
Day 12: Transfer to the airport for your departure
You will be transferred to the international airport for your final departure to your loved home. One of our team members will take you to the airport as per your flight departure time.
