Removing eyelash extensions can be a tricky business. That is the reason why experts suggest to get the eyelash extensions removed at salons only by professionals. However, if you want to do it by yourself at home, then there are two methods that you can choose from.
Method #1: With steam and oil
The first method to remove your eyelash extensions is with the steam and oil. You can use coconut or olive oil for this purpose. So, here is the procedure.
Clean your eye makeup
Clean the makeup that you have already applied with a gentle eye makeup remover or makeup wipes. Be careful while removing the makeup, especially around the eye area. This preliminary step is necessary to distinguish between your real lashes and extensions.
Get a steam
Grab a bowl of water and heat it, then bend and keep your head over it for at least 15 minutes. You may also add some essential oil to it as it can make you more relaxed. Besides unclogging pores of your face, it loosens the glue on your extensions, and as a consequence, your extensions come off easily.
Soak cotton in oil
Take a cotton ball, pour it into the oil and touch it to your eyelashes gently. Apply the oil in a rubbing motion with a cotton ball to your eyelashes. You will see the extensions coming off.
If required, get more oil. But make sure it is not getting to your eyes. If it does, then wash it with cold water immediately. Continue applying until the lash falls off completely. Also, don't pull it as it may damage your natural lashes.
Wash it away
The last step is to rinse your face with water. You may also apply facial cleanser to get rid of excess oil.
Method #2: With glue remover
You can also remove your extensions with a glue remover if you don't want the steamy and oily method.
Purchase a glue remover
You can easily get the professional-grade eyelash glue remover from your nearby drugstore or beauty store. Do not forget to read the safety instructions given before using it.
Remove the eye makeup
Get rid of the eye makeup which you have applied to see the exact placement of your extensions. You can use a common makeup remover.
Apply the remover
Now it is time to apply the remover. However, before applying the remover, you can place under-eye pads to protect your skin. Apply the adhesive remover with a cotton ball. Keep your eyes closed before you apply the remover to prevent it from entering your eyes, as it can irritate your eyes.
Pull down the upper lid of your lashes with your fingers. Rub the dipped cotton ball in circular motions across the lash line. Now, leave it for 3 to 5 minutes as your glue remover needs that much time to dissolve the adhesive.
Pull the loosened extension
After 3 to 5 minutes, pull out the loosened extensions gently. Don't be too hard on it as you will not want your natural lashes to fall off. If the remover has worked perfectly, then you won't have to do the hard work as the extension will fall off easily. Use your thumb and forefinger to remove the extensions.
Rinse the excess remover
Clean the area with a mild cleanser to remove the excess adhesive or glue remover.
Conclusion
So, these are the two methods to remove your extensions at home.
These methods are applicable to all types of lash extensions. Thus, you can buy wholesale lash trays or any of your favourite lash extensions without worrying about its removal after the use.
