#MondayMusings : Of breaks and what they take

Come Monday and like a lot of people, I become sad. It is not that I hate Mondays in entirety but after a couple of days of resting or doing what you want to do, Mondays become a little difficult to deal with. I blame it inertia!

Trust me, things are most likely to go wrong on a Monday morning! I’m someone who takes enough care to see that things don’t go wrong on a Monday morning but a lot of times they do! In order not to waste time on worrying about what to wear, I press clothes for the entire week on Sunday evening, so that I’ve one less headache. But despite such measures, the alarm has to fail to ring on Monday, there has to be a power cut on a Monday morning, the traffic jam has to be there. In short, there has to be some problem to deal with, otherwise it is not a Monday morning.

But this Monday morning is different for me. I woke up without an alarm, had an unhurried breakfast while having a conversation with mom. I’m at home! If you stay away from home for a while, then trust me when you come back home you’ll be pampered a lot! But that doesn’t last forever.

Coming back to how my day has been going on, after breakfast, I went to the little green space that we call our garden, settled on the stone used for washing clothes with a book in hand and began reading only interrupted by the mewing of the my cat! This took me back to my childhood, during summer holidays when I used to do exactly the same thing! The shade of the trees, the gentle breeze, the fragrance of flowers, the chirping of birds, the colourful butterflies provides the perfect environment for me to read and to be lost in a world of my own. Perfect!

As a child this was something that I always wanted to do. Summer holidays were perfect because of this. But fast forward to the present, finding time to read even a couple of pages everyday sometimes becomes a task and often comes at the cost of sleep. And hence I felt I deserved this break. After long hours at work for the past few days, a break was what I needed! And now that I have I’m enjoying it. But 2.5 days of my holidays are already over. All that remains a day and a half. Why holidays? Why are you never enough?

And yeah, after the first day at home, the pampering goes away!

“Wash all the dirty dishes, will you?”

“Don’t spend all your time reading that book. Your ancient books could do with a little dusting.”

And the list goes on! So even when you are on break, there are things to deal with- a lot of them! Ah breaks and what they take!
