News Synopsis

The National Highways for EVs inaugurated a miniature concept model of charging stations for electric vehicles for the first time that will replace conventional petrol pumps (fuel pumps) in the future. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari unveiled the miniature of this state-of-the-art EV charging station developed by NHEV.

The NHEV Miniature Model of Charging Station is the first ever model in the industry, which is envisioned as a comprehensive roadside facility plaza, providing new insights into the existing/conventional petrol pumps and roadside amenities available on highways. Thinks outright and can replace them. This has emerged as an initiative of Ease of Doing Business (EODB). EODB is already trying to upgrade 5000 km of National Highways to e-highways through its pilot project called National Highways for EVs (NHEV).

The pilot project is currently in its final stages of technical and commercial trials with buses and long-distance electric SUVs on the Delhi-Jaipur section from 9 September 2022. This will add a distance of 278 km to the 210 km tech-trial run held earlier between Delhi-Agra in 2021. Due to this a total of 500 km of technical testing will be completed in this pilot project in four states UP, Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan.
