A Plug Valve has a cylindrical or cone shaped plug which rotates inside the valve body to control the flow of medium. They are used for full flow services that are either fully open or fully closed. They are generally not designed for regulation of the medium. The main advantage of the plug valve is that it can be repaired or cleaned without removing the valve body from the system. Usually, Plug Valves are top entry. They are useful in applications where quick and frequent operation is required.
