Questions Worth Asking Before Conception

Before trying for a baby, it can help to pause and ask a simple question: is there anything about my current health that I should deal with first?

That is where preconception care can help. A GP appointment gives you a chance to talk about your health before pregnancy begins, rather than waiting until after conception.

You might ask about medicines you currently use, vaccinations, nutrition, exercise, or an existing medical condition. Your doctor can also review your medical history and discuss concerns that may be relevant to pregnancy.

The timing can matter too. Around three months before trying is suggested as a useful period for preconception planning. If you have an ongoing condition, take regular medicines, or have had previous pregnancy complications, earlier preparation may be appropriate.

It is less about following a universal list and more about understanding what applies to you.

Not sure what questions belong on your pre-pregnancy checklist? The full article covers the conversation worth having before you start trying:[https://gpnorthbourne.com.au/trying-for-a-baby-why-preconception-care-matters-more-than-you-think/]
