Renovations That Dont Need Planning

Anyone interested in renovating an old structure may be pleasantly surprised to learn how much work may be done without first obtaining permission from local planners.

The essence of allowed development rights is that the government has given blanket authorization for a variety of activities, providing that they fulfill specified criteria and the local authority approves your proposal and complies with them. There are many different types of development, each with its own set of restrictions, making this a particularly intricate area of planning control.

Redesigning the interior

You don't need the authorization to make interior alterations like shifting walls or modifying floor heights when updating a space or when installing a new bathroom or kitchen.

However, this is only applicable to a home that is already built and lived in; any new building or conversions must adhere to the authorized designs. If your house has historical or architectural significance, you may need special permission to make changes.

Change the Roof

Changing the roof's finish, such as by fixing small pieces of the covering or replacing it with the same or a different material, will not need official approval.

Any additions or renovations to an attic space can't be higher than 150mm above the roof's current plane. This leaves just enough area to install an outside insulating barrier. More extensive alterations to the profile of the roof are discussed up above.

Put in a pool for swimming.

There is a 50% coverage restriction on grounds by structures, and because pools are considered outbuildings, this might be an issue if you have a tiny yard and want a pool.

Alter the outside cladding.

You may paint, repair, or replace your home's outside cladding as long as the end result is visually consistent with the original.

Protected areas are subject to stringent regulations.

You can contact a construction company and renovate your home with professional help.
