Rise to the Majors:
MLBSHOW Epic Journey is a game that simulates the experience of a Major League Baseball player. You create your player, choose your team, and play through a season. The game is realistic, and you must use strategy and skill to succeed.
A young player's Journey to the Major Leagues
As a young player, I dreamed of playing in the Major Leagues. My goal was always to be the best player I could be and one day make it to the big leagues.
I started playing baseball when I was just five years old. My dad had played in the minor leagues and taught me everything he knew about the game. I played in little league and then in high school. I was good but I knew I had to work hard to make it to the Major Leagues.
After high school, I was drafted by a Major League team. I was so excited to be living my dream finally. I worked hard in the minor leagues, and after a few years, I was called up to the big leagues.
I will never forget the first time I stepped onto a Major League field. It was an incredible feeling, and I knew I had made it. I have been playing in the mlbshow for several years and love it.
I am so thankful for this opportunity to play the game I love at the highest level. Getting here has been a long journey, but it was worth every minute.
From amateur to professional
The grind of a long minor league season can be brutal for any player. For those that have been released, it can be even more challenging. But for two players on the Rise, they'll never give up on their dream.
Drafted in the 35th round of the MLB Draft out of a small town in Oklahoma, C.J. Edwards had to work his way up through the Chicago Cubs farm system. After being released by the Cubs in 2019, he was picked up by the Milwaukee Brewers. Edwards made his MLB debut in 2020 and quickly became a vital member of the Brewers' bullpen.
Similarly, the Tampa Bay Rays drafted Daniel Robertson in the 38th round. He made his MLB debut in 2016 but was released by the Rays in 2019. The Texas Rangers picked him up, and he became an everyday player in 2020.
While their stories may differ, Edwards and Robertson have overcome the odds of becoming professional baseball players. They are living proof that there is always time to chase your dreams.
The long road to the Top
It's been a long, winding road to the Top for many Major League Baseball players. Some have had to toil in the minor leagues for years, while others have had to overcome serious injuries. But the Journey to the majors has been epic for all of them.
For some players, the path to the majors has been relatively easy. They were drafted high out of high school or college, and they quickly made their way through the minor leagues. Players like Mike Trout and Bryce Harper fall into this category.
But the road to the majors has been much more difficult for other players. They were drafted in the later rounds or weren't drafted at all. They had to fight their way through the minor leagues, and they had to overcome injuries. Players like J.D. Martinez and Justin Turner fall into this category.
No matter how easy or difficult the path to the majors has been, all players have had to overcome some obstacles. And all of them have had to grind it out day after day, year after year, to make it to the big leagues.
So, the next time you watch a Major League Baseball game, take a moment to think about all the hard work and dedication that every player has put in to get to where they are today. They've all had to take the long road to the Top.
Making it to the show
It's every little leaguer's dream – to one day make it to the big leagues. For most, it's just that – a dream. But for a select few, that dream becomes a reality.
For MLBShow, that dream became a reality when they were selected to participate in the Rise to the Majors: Epic Journey event.
This event, put on by Major League Baseball, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a few minor league teams to play against each other in a tournament-style format.
MLBShow was one of those teams.
The Journey to the event was a challenging one. MLBShow had to win through a series of qualifying tournaments, each more difficult than the last. But they did it. They made it to the event. And they made the most of it.
MLBShow went undefeated in the event, winning all seven of their games. It was an incredible achievement that MLBShow and its fans will remember for years to come. But it was only the beginning.
Now, MLBShow has its sights set on even bigger goals. They want to win a World Series. It's a tall order, but if anyone can do it, MLBShow can. They've proven time and time again that they have what it takes to compete with the best of the best. And they still need to be finished.
The Journey to the Top is always challenging. But for MLBShow, it's just another step on the way to achieving their ultimate goal.
Achieving the dream
It was a long and winding road to the Major Leagues for many of today's top players. For some, it was a matter of being in the right place at the right time. For others, it was a case of finally getting that big break after toiling in the minors for years. But for all of them, it was a journey that required immense dedication, hard work, and a never-say-die attitude.
Here are five players who have truly lived the "rags to riches" story, overcoming all odds to achieve their dream of playing in the Major Leagues.
1. Chris Colabello
Chris Colabello's story is one of perseverance; after being passed over twice in the Major League Baseball draft, the Massachusetts native spent seven years toiling in the independent Can-Am League. He was finally signed by the Minnesota Twins in 2012 and made his Major League debut the following year.
Since then, Colabello has been a revelation for the Twins. In 2014, he hit .321 with 15 home runs and 54 RBIs, earning himself a spot on the American League All-Star team. He was also named the AL Player of the Week twice.
2. R.A. Dickey
R.A. Dickey's Journey to the Major Leagues is a tale of two sports. However, after a series of injuries, his career appeared to be over.
That's when Dickey decided to give knuckleball pitching a try. After years of honing his new craft in the minors, he finally returned to the Major Leagues with the Seattle Mariners in 2001.
