SENSOROMOTOR THERAPY

SENSOROMOTOR THERAPY

Techniques involving the senses and the body can help relax the limbic system. In sensorimotor therapy, the therapist assists the patient in recognizing sensory bodily responses and being aware of their body's cues in order to promote recovery. It's a way to involve both the body and the mind in the healing process.

Daniel Amen has established through his neuroimaging experiments that after EMDR therapy, patients experience calming in their limbic systems. Yoga, meditation, focused breathing, relaxing music, and exercise are additional methods for limbic calming.

The straightforward exercises listed below can promote limbic calming:

Spend five minutes each morning and night simply observing and relaxing your body by rocking back and forth or side to side.

Find music or musical tones that make you feel tranquil, whether the music has words or not.

Practice three-count deep breathing sequences. Breathe, breathe, breathe, for instance. Rest. Take three deep breaths. Rest.…

Participate in some form of exercise for 12-15 minutes per day to increase serotonin and dopamine.

Participate in 5-10 minutes per day of prayer or meditation, as the spiritual center of the brain is an area that is able to influence and calm the deeper regions of the brain.
