The Abyssinian cat and the Somali cat have similar ticked coat patterns. However, they are different when it comes to coat length. If you are unaware of what a ticked coat looks like, here is an explanation. This pattern is an alternating dark and light shade. However, the development of this pattern among some Somalis is sometimes slower.

The coat of a Somali cat is medium-length, but it is fine and silky. She has a ruff on her neck and breeches on her legs. These are the reason why this cat looks more coated compared to the Abyssinian.

The are four colors available if you are thinking of adopting a Somali. Here are they with a short description:

Ruddy brown – This color is also known as burn sienna. The ticks of this cat are composed of black or dark brown colors. Her nose leather is tile-red, while her nose pad may be brown or black. Red or sorrel – This cat has a cinnamon-shaded coat. Her ticks are composed of chocolate-brown colors. Both her paw pads and nose leather are pink. Blue - This cat has a warm beige shaded coat. Her ticks are composed of slate-blue colors. Her nose leather has an old rose color, while her nose pad has a mauve color. Fawn - This cat has a warm rose-beige shaded coat. Her ticks are composed of light cocoa-brown colors. Her nose leather has a salmon color, while her nose pad has a pink color.

Any problem affecting your pet's skin and/or hair coat should require a visit to your pet hospital Askov, MN.
