Rotis, chapatis or popularly known as the Indian flatbread, are no doubt a healthy food choice. In fact, most people in the Indian subcontinent consume rotis. Rotis are highly nutritious, ranging from macro-nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins to micro-nutrients like phosphorus, selenium and zinc. Rotis even consist of non-nutrient, disease-fighting modules like phytic acid, tannins and lignans.

Rotis now are made within minutes with the help of the fully automatic roti-maker, Rotimatic. There are many ways in which a roti can be consumed in our daily routine, and with the help of the Rotimatic device, you can try so many new recipes without leaving out the nutritional value because Rotimatic never fails to deliver the idyllically consistent rotis.

Here are some fun yet healthy recipes you can try:

Chapathi quesadillas

Though quesadillas are considered unhealthy based on the amount of cheese and sour cream used, they can be converted into a quick healthy snack by modifying the choice of filling. So in no time, it will turn into a healthy kid loving snack.

Ingredients:

Whole-wheat flour, water, ghee, fresh beans, olives, broccoli, tomatoes, bell peppers, cheese and salt, pepper and cumin to taste.

Method:

Prepare rotis using Rotimatic. Then lay the rotis on a clean flat surface and apply some oil; you can choose ghee instead of oil. In a mixing bowl, put the chopped olives, tomatoes, bell peppers, beans, and broccoli. Add some salt, cumin and pepper to taste; stir well. No need to sauté them.

Spread 1 tbsp of cheese on the one-half side of the roti and add the vegetable mix and fold the other half of the roti, and place it gently.

Place these rotis in the oven and heat them for 20 minutes at 350F. Take it out of the oven, and it is best served hot.

Baked Chips

Yes, you read it right, chips. Though rotis are preferred soft, it tastes great even when they are crispy. For the chips, a fat-free yoghurt dip is the best option. This combination is healthier, all the while keeping your taste buds satiated.

Ingredients:

Whole-wheat flour, water, olive oil, red curry/chilli powder blend, fat-free yoghurt, peeled and seeded cucumber, grated onions, grated carrots, grated and seeded tomatoes, fresh cilantro, ground coriander and cumin, salt to taste.

Method:

Prepare rotis using Rotimatic; since you need slightly dry rotis, you can adjust the amount of water you put in the collapsible water container of the device. Once the rotis are done, preheat the oven for 10 minutes at 375 F and then take out the cookie sheet. Brush both the sides of the roti with olive oil and sprinkle the red chilli powder and other spices of your choice; cut the rotis into wedges or strips and arrange them on the tray. Bake them for 8-10 minutes.

And for the dip, mix the yoghurt with all the vegetables. If you want to amp the flavour, you can add seasoning to the dip. And you are through.

Happy eating! Happiness is homemade thanks to Rotimatic!
