In the past, it was very difficult for disabled people to survive due to many reasons such as social stigma, limited educational opportunities, employment challenges, and inadequate healthcare. But now, with increased awareness and advanced technology not only are they getting better opportunities but are also living their life with dignity.
There are certain educational programs to create awareness towards disabled people so that they can also have equal opportunities as we have everywhere, in every field. Many companies have taken the initiative for disabled inclusivity and also acknowledge the importance of a diverse workforce. Some organizations play a vital role in supporting livelihood by implementing various programs and initiatives. One such organization is TRRAIN- Trust For Retailers And Retail Associates Of India.
In 2011, it was laid with a clear mission of training and creating livelihood opportunities for disabled people in retail. It focuses on employing those who want to join the retail industry.
Building Sustainable Livelihood Initiative With TRRAIN
Even today in India, many people struggle to lead a life of dignity. Thankfully, Mr. B.S. Nagesh launched TRRAIN with a purpose of building an inclusive and equitable community that provides livelihood opportunities to the poor, differently abled, and marginalized women of society. This is the best example of a sustainable livelihood initiative as it allows them to create an independent life not only for themselves but also for their families.
Individuals with disabilities need to explore their options, identify their strengths and interests, and seek out the resources and support available to them to achieve their goals of leading independent and fulfilling lives. Sustainable livelihood is not only about securing the basic necessities of life but it is the ability to sustain life and improve well-being in the long run. And that’s what we do in TRRAIN, from the time of establishment till today, we aim to create inclusive and reliable opportunities through sustainable livelihood initiatives like-
TRRAIN Her Ascent-
With the aim to promote a gender diverse workforce in retail, Ascent was established to train and create livelihood opportunities for underprivileged young women in retail. By far more than 12,000 women from underprivileged and marginalized backgrounds have been empowered.
TRRAIN Pankh -
Launched in 2011, we have been creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) by training and providing them with employment opportunities in retail and allied sectors. We have empowered more than 30,000 disabled people by promoting diversity and inclusion in the industry.
After skillful training, they can be hired for various roles like Cashier, Process Associate, Operations Associate, Customer Service Associate, Warehouse Associate, Sales Executives, Project Coordinators, Telecallers, Customer Service Desk, etc. At the end of the day, it is important for them to secure their necessities and lead a dignified life.
Donate For Livelihood Support: Be A Reason For Change
Let’s create an inclusive environment and be a reason for change in society. It’s time to break down myths, understand their potential, and be more inclusive to build an equitable society by promoting sustainable livelihoods for all. People with disabilities need access to the same services and opportunities as any other. We only need to be understanding, and patient towards them.
Come to TRRAIN and join us in creating a change for a better future for everyone. If you would like to empower persons with disabilities and underprivileged women to craft sustainable Livelihoods and nurture their aspirations, you can donate to the cause. Thanks and keep supporting!
