We all know that the fragrance of a lit candle can calm the soul, inspire the mind, and create a warm and welcoming home environment. However, many times, lighting a candle is not really an option. For example, children and pets can cause safety concerns, and frankly some of us forget to blow out candles once they are lit - another safety concern. Plus, most of us want to enjoy the fragrance right when we get home from a long day at work. Sometimes it can take up to an hour for the fragrance from a candle to permeate your entire home.
If any of these describe your situation, a cake warmer or wax melter will solve your problem and help you create that great smelling home you've always wanted, safely 24/7. week.
Here are some great tips for using your candle warmer or wax melter.
Choosing the Right Melter / Warmer - There are so many pie warmers, candle warmers, and wax melters available that it is sometimes difficult to choose. Hearts and Flowers Primitives sells two great cake / candle warmers. The two melters we sell are electric so they can be safely left on all the time. Our cake and candle warmer will melt wax pieces, chips and cakes, as well as votive candles and small jar scented wax melts. We also offer the simple cake warmer that will melt just the right amount of wax chunks, chunks and tarts. Both options will add a great fragrance to your room or the whole house.
Location: First things first, you probably want to leave the cake warmer on all the time, so choose a place in your home that can use a night light, such as the kitchen. It's also a good idea to keep it on a high counter if you have kids or pets so they won't be tempted by melted wax.
Wax change: Just because there is still melted wax in your warmer doesn't necessarily mean the fragrance is still there. The scented oil from the wax will eventually dissipate from the wax so it is important to keep the wax fresh. Every few days it is a good idea to change the wax. There are two ways to change the wax. The easiest thing to do is turn off the heater and let the wax cool. Once the wax cools it should come off the warming plate, if you don't stick it in the freezer for a few minutes and it will shrink enough to come out easily. The second and quickest way to change the wax is to simply pour it into a heat resistant disposable cup or bag. Warning: this option can be tricky; make sure the wax doesn't melt your mug or bag.
Choosing the Right Wax - As you know, Hearts and Flowers Primitives sells all kinds of wax pieces for your heater. From scented wax snowballs to wax crumbs and wax shavings, they're all great on your warmer. The main thing when selecting wax for your heater is to make sure you use an adequate amount of wax for your particular heater. Remember that when the wax melts it acts like a liquid and if you fill the warmer too much the wax can overflow the heating plate and get dirty. Just use common sense when filling your warming plate.
Bonus Tip: Many people get used to the fragrance after a couple of days in their heater. To get the most out of your wax and your heater, find two or three fragrances that you like and alternate between them so that you and your house guests always enjoy a great fragrance.
Bonus Tip # 2: Another great thing to use your heater is to get the most out of your candles. When your candles burn down to the last bit that will no longer burn, simply cut the wax and use it in your heater or melter. Enjoy!
Combining these tips in conjunction with your wax melter or cake warmer will help give your home a wonderful fragrance every time.
