With every individual chanting away in unison for the pursuit of peace, the voice of justice seems to really ring throughout the nation.

People on the streets dawning a flag of hope as an example for the upcoming generations.

This is America.

The recent developments of George Floyd’s demise seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for the U.S. justice system, finally causing a riot. The stigma against police is now mainstream. The world came together to blow a collective whistle on Officer Derek Chauvin’s antics that led to the 46-year-old African American’s cries for air—a testimony to every person ill-treated by the men dawning blue and using the constitution to inflict their vendettas.

The future of the U.S. justice system now seems in the clear for prosperity… or is it?

The question marks

The awareness raised by movements like Black Lives Matter has forever impacted the name of policing in the U.S. Or better yet, the collective antics of racist police officers have now finally surfaced in the eyes of the general public where they can no longer abuse their power.

A great scientist developed a law that states, “With every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.” The public uproar against police brutality was a reaction. Police are now being demonized by the general public, no matter their rank or demeanor. Due to the aggressive opposition, parents are now becoming iffy sending their children off to boot camp. This has now raised more questions rather than answers. By hook or crook, the surveillance of the law rests with the police.

But what happens if the government can’t simply meet the supply of good police officers due to the established stigmas?

A precarious situation

“The blue line” is responsible for making sure every citizen sleeps safe and sound at night. The conflict between good and evil will always persist in all facets of life. But what about the cop who abides by the law with the utmost dignity and respect? The one who makes sure the block has been examined twice before he shuts his eye at night?

Across America, more than 185 police officers have been shot at, 35 of which perished due to the gunfire. Assaults have increased by 126 percent over the previous year. It’s not just about a voice being raised; what’s also being raised are arms with the police in the cross-airs.

The situation continues to escalate.

Shedding a light

Banners of “defund the police” and chants of demonization against the police are only causing a ripple effect that is dismantling America at its core. Such radical measures strip the police of the resources that help them do their job… a major one being their livelihood.

There needs to be a mutual consensus and an effort to eradicate these horns drawn on the heads of the people trying to keep America safe. Hate will only garner more hate.

Author and ex-officer James Buie thoroughly discusses the two sides of this coin in his book From The Ground Up. With practical plans and arguments that facilitate a conclusion that promises a prosperous America.
