Langtang circuit trek is one of the most popular trekking adventures in the Langtang region, which has been a popular and frequently organized trekking from Outfitter Himalaya. Langtang circuit trek takes all around the Langtang valley, Gosainkunda, and Helambu and offers you numerous fascinations including amazing up-close views of mountain vistas, impressive landscapes, and cultural richness, all these are worth exploring.

You have an amazing up-close view of the mountain vista, especially from Lantang valley during the Langtang Circuit Trek. The narrow mountain valley is sandwiched between a snowy mountain range namely mighty Langtang Lirung (7,246 m) which stands just right to the north, and Gang Chhenpo (6,388 m) and another trekking peak Naya Kangri (5,846 m) lie just at the south of the valley, the Ganjala Pass (5,122 m) and Dorge Lakpa (6,989 m) lie to the east at the end of the valley.

A myth is that Langtang valley was said to have been discovered by the Lama, the priest following a runaway yak. The term ‘Lang’ means ‘Yak’ in the Tibetan language, whereas the term ‘tang’ means ‘to follow’ thus during the trek, you will pass through the yak pasture and also encounter the yak.

We have 16 days for the Langtang circuit trek including your arrival and departure days to and from Nepal the trek starts with a sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. We will take a drive to Syaprubesi and excursion around the Langtang valley, then the trail swigs south to Thulo Syabru and then trek to the holy Gosainkunda Lakeside located at the altitude of 4,360-meter height, after having excursion all around, the trail then takes you back down to the beautiful Helambu valley which is rich in Buddhist cultural heritages, distinctive religious practices, languages, and dress which is much more similar to those of Tibet.

You will trek through Nepal’s first National Park, the Langtang national park where you will have an opportunity to savor the amazing natural beauty, diverse flora and fauna, and so forth. Langtang circuit trekking has been popular and demanding trekking destination among clients Outfitter Himalaya in recent days, because of yet unexplored or least explored fascinations of the areas including amazing mountain vistas, impressive landscapes, Buddhist monastery, charming settlement of Tamang, Hyolmo, and more.

We have a shorter trek in the Langtang National Park that is the Langtang Valley trek and Langtang-Gosaikunda Trek so, look at them if this one is not suitable for you, or please e-mail us for the tailor-made itinerary for your holiday in Langtang, we are waiting for an inquiry to offer you further info and itinerary as per your need and requirements.

Itinerary in Detail

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu airport and transfer to the hotel

Get refreshed & familiar with your surroundings. Your senior trek leader will meet you at eventide & brief you on the pros & cons of your whole trip.

Day 02: Full-day historical tour of Kathmandu

After having Breakfast, we take you for a sightseeing tour in Kathmandu Valley. This will include Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, or Monkey Temple {please note, that these are real monkeys that can be a real pain in the neck but are loved by the local folks because of their godly mythical status. Just buy some bananas & distribute them directly to the monkeys or your guide can do that for you, & they will happily leave you alone} Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa.

Kathmandu is a literal mix of religious diversity & western influence that goes back right to the ‘hippie’ days of yore; & there’s nothing to change this, if ever, but it’s a wonderful combination of the ancient & the contemporary. Some of the sites you visit are famously recognized UNESCO world heritage sites

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi

We start our journey at about 7 AM and head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabrubensi. We also get to view the enthralling panorama of the Himalayas, including the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and the peaks of the Langtang region.

The first part of your drive up to Trishuli Bazaar is pretty smooth. The path now moves along a gravel road. During the rainy season, the route is sometime blocked due to landslides.

Day 04: Trek from Syabrubeshi to Lama Hotel

Today is the first walking day of our trek and it’s a cool hike, first, the trail gradually ascends to Landslide (1810m.). Afterward, our trail ascends gently to Rimche (2400m.) through Bamboo (1960m.) and at the end, our trail is level with the Lama Hotel. En route, we could see red pandas and bears (if we are lucky), and monkeys.

We pass by several small tea shops. As we continue ascending steeply along the trail, we come across a steel suspension bridge at 2000 meters. The route further crosses to the north bank of the Langtang Khola amid the spectacular vistas of cascading waterfalls and opens into scrub oak forest.

Day 05: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village

As we continue climbing, there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the trees. At Ghora Tabela (3000m), the trail emerges from the forest. While walking here, we will catch a glimpse of white monkeys and local birds. Once there was a Tibetan resettlement project hereabouts, but now it is a Nepalese army post though it has no permanent inhabitants.

The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery which we can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang.

Day 06: Trek from Langtang Village to Kyangjin Gompa

The trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive.

We cross a wooden cantilever bridge and reach a wide valley after climbing a moraine. There is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory at the end of the trail. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail settles Kyangjin.

Day 07: Rest Day at Kyangjin Gompa and excursions around

This is a day to rest and explore the area. We will visit the monastery and the cheese factory & sample some of the cheese, it's tasty & real fresh.

We then walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri [4350m], directly behind the village, for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang peaks. We can also make a day trip to Tseguri as an option.

Day 08: Trek from Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel

From Kyangjin, we retrace our trekking route, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. After lunch, we continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel.

Day 09: Trek from Lama Hotel to Syabru Gaon

We start our trek descending to Landslide and the route separates from here to Syabru Gaon, we will take the upper route & then the trail ascends to Syabru Gaon, from here we will enjoy spectacular views of Langtang Lirung (7245m.), & the Tibetan Himal ranges that we see on the horizons.

Day 10: Trek from Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa

Today, the trails from Thulo Syabru to Foprang Danda (3200m.) follow steeply an ascended path passing through Dursagang (2660m.) along with the view of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Tibetan Mountains, and oak, Hemlock, firs & rhododendron forests to gain a ridge. Now the path gently ascends for some distance and then follows a flat level to Sing Gompa which provides wonderful views, enlivening nature, and a tasty Yak Cheese factory.

Day 11: Trek from Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda via Lauribinayak La

Today, the first part of the trails emerges gently ascending to Lauribinayak and the top of Lauribinayak gives us an exotic feeling. Then the trail steeply ascends to Gosaikunda. We follow a rugged trail with dramatic views; of the west Himal chuli (7893m) Manaslu range (8156mm), Ganesh Himal range (7406m), Tibetan peaks, and Langtang Lirung. On a clear day, even the Annapurna range can be seen rising behind and to the north across the valley is Langtang Lirung.

You pass a few huts in the high pasture of Laurebinayak, cross a small ridge, and have your first views of the holy lakes. There are about a dozen lakes in the Gosainkunda Basin, the main three being Saraswatikunda, Bhairabkunda, and Gosainkunda.

According to legend, Gosainkunda was created by Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after having swallowed a poison that threatened to destroy the world.

Day 12: Trek from Gosaikunda to Ghopte via Lauribinayak Pass

Today, the trail leaves Gosainkund and climbs through rugged terrain, past four more small lakes to the Laurebina La (4610m), the highest point of this trek.

Keep looking back for spectacular views of Manaslu and the mountains of the Ganesh Himal, as well as the now familiar Langtang Lirung. We then descend steeply to Ghopte.

Day 13: Trek from Ghopte to Kutumsang

Today we join the other path of Helambu, and it is a pleasant walk through the alpine forest for one and half hours to Tharepati, where we can have lunch and enjoy views of the snow-capped peaks of the Jugal Himalayan range in the east and Ganesh - Manaslu in the west.

After lunch, we follow the trail descending for a few hours to Kutumsang.

Day 14: Trek from Kutumsang to Chisopani Danda

Today, we have a pretty nice walk in the morning passing through several rural farm villages, through the village of Gul Bhanjyang, and on to Pati Bhanjyang after a 3-4 hours trek. From here, there is a short uphill climb to the overnight stop at Chisopani danda.

Day 15: Trek from Chisopani to Sundarijal and drive to Kathmandu

Today is the last day of this beautiful journey on some of the loveliest mountains in the world. In the morning we walk through serene forest and farmlands and on to the top of the ridge of Burlang and Chepu Bhanjyang at 2,438m with its great views of Kathmandu Valley.

From here the trek descends to Sundarijal (beautiful water) through a cool forest with monkeys and fresh streams. This is a popular picnic spot for many Kathmandu people who want to escape from the busy crowded metropolitan life in this ancient city. Another hour descending from Sundarijal and we drive to Kathmandu.
