What the output looks like
Sample for a product photo of wireless headphones
  1. Matte black over-ear wireless headphones on a walnut desk next to a coffee mug (94 chars)
  2. Close-up of memory-foam ear cushions and adjustable metal headband (67 chars)
  3. Wireless headphones paired with a smartphone showing the Spotify app (68 chars)
Why does alt text matter?
Two reasons. First, accessibility — screen readers read it aloud to blind and low-vision users. Second, SEO — search engines use alt text to index images, which powers your Google Images traffic.
How long should alt text be?
Aim for under 125 characters. Screen readers typically stop at 125 and some even truncate earlier. Keep it factual, specific, and avoid "image of" or "picture of" prefixes.
When should I leave alt empty?
For purely decorative images (background patterns, separators, stock photos that add nothing to the content). Set alt="" so screen readers skip them. Our tool flags likely-decorative images.
Why 3 variants?
Different pages need different emphasis. A product page alt can mention the product name; a blog post alt can describe the action. Pick the one that best matches your page context.
Can I upload a local file?
Yes — drag and drop an image onto the drop zone or use the file picker. The image is sent directly to OpenAI, never stored on our servers.
