Two-time professional golf champion Junwon Park (37) has announced his retirement from the tour.

Park officially retired after the second round of the Golf Zone-Doray Open at Seonsan Out and In Course (Par 72) in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, on Wednesday.

He was caddied by his best friend Kim Kyung-tae (37, Shinhan Financial Group) for the first and second rounds of the tournament. Park missed the cut with a 3-over-par 147.

He was encouraged by his teammates, including defending champion Eun Shin Park (33-Hana Financial Group) and Jin Ho Choi (39-COWELL).

Park said, “It wasn't an easy decision to leave Jungden Field and I will miss the field. However, due to a combination of injuries, I decided it was time to retire from the tour,” said Park. “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the fans who have supported and loved me throughout my career. I had a great time playing on the KPGA Korean Tour for 12 years.”
