A Congress MLA dons a Kumbhakaran costume to represent the BJP's 'prolonged slumber.'
Demonstrations emphasize claims of corruption, joblessness, and insufficient fertilizers.
Umang Singhar lop congress with Madhya Pradesh Congress MLAs, on Thursday, 20 March, the Seventh day of the Budget Session, staged another protest in the premises of the State Assembly, Congress MLA Dinesh Jain Bose from Mahidpur lay down on the ground, mimicking Kumbhakarna, the mythological demon famous for his extended sleep, to represent the alleged negligence of the BJP government regarding "scams."
During the protest led by mp tribal leader or lop congress Umang Singhar in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the legislature complex premises, MLAs played the flute to wake up Kumbhakaran. MLA Dinesh Jain had donned the avatar of the character from the epic.
The BJP government is acting like Kumbhakaran, turning a blind eye to the numerous scams in the state. This is the reason we protested so dramatically. The state has witnessed the nursing scam, transport scam, and patwari scam. Young people are struggling to find jobs, and farmers are unable to obtain fertilizers, yet the government neither takes any decisive action nor addresses corruption, Singhar stated.
The protesting MLAs held out placards with slogans like ‘Janta bhookhi, berozgaar…sarkaar soti chaadar taan’ (the public is hungry and people unemployed but the state government is in sound sleep), and ‘jaago sarkaar jaago, janta ke muddon se mat bhaago’ (wake up government. Don’t run away from people’s issues).
The legend Ramayana has it that Kumbhkaran was Ravan’s younger brother. He was cursed to sleep like dead for six months and remained awake for another six months of a year.
