Vamala, located near Pallavoor, Palakkad, is a famous temple and a popular tourist destination. The temple gained widespread recognition after the Malayalam movie ‘Hridayam’, starring Pranav Mohanlal, was released. The temple is situated on the Karuvottu hill, near the village of Pallavoor, and is surrounded by the beautiful Nelliampathy hills and lush green paddy fields.

The main deity of the temple is Lord Muruga, who is worshipped as Bala Muruga. According to legend, the idol of Lord Muruga was installed here over 250 years ago. The temple also has a shrine dedicated to Idumban, the guardian deity of Lord Muruga.
