El Salvador is the smallest country in South America that has access to the Pacific coast. The climate here is tropical but the highlands in the interior of the country are cooler. But, if you talk about EL Salvador Foods, you will be surprised. This smallest country is a food hub. You will be surprised at the preparation and taste of El Salvador. It’s out of the box. 

The reason why El Salvador foods are unique and tasty is that they are the result of two tribes. The blend of the Pipil tribe (the predominant tribe) with other tribes reflects in the El Salvadoran cuisine. Salvadorans mostly prefer corn-based meals every day. You will find the use of corn in El Salvadoran dishes in different ways.

The predation for pupusas includes rice or cornflour. People make tortillas and stuff with a variety of fillings, which include cheese, pork, fried beans, loroco, and even chicken and shrimp. It is served with tomato sauce and curtido, which is made of fermented vegetables. 

Mojarra Frita 

The dish got its name from a fish named Mojarra found in tropical regions. Mojarra Frita is very crispy because the fish is fried in hot oil after cleaning and seasoning. But, the interesting part is that the inside of the fish is quite juicy. When you touch it, you will feel hard but once you take it in your mouth, you will feel soft and juicy. 

The mojarra frita is rice and salad, which includes lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, and lemon. 

Sopa de Mondongo or Tripe Soup

In El Salvador cuisine, you will find different types of soups prepared in different ways. But, the one popular soup type is Sopa de Mondongo. Almost everyone in this country loves this soup because it's nutritious. People say that this soup is preferred to get rid of a hangover. It is but people love it for other reasons as well. 

The Sopa de mondongo is prepared using cow’s feet, tripe, and tendons. These things are mixed with spices, corn, cassava, and vegetables and cooked properly. You will find this soup even in the local markets of El Salvador. 

Panes con Pavo (Turkey Sandwich)

If you are looking for something in the fast-food category, you will panes con Pavo. It’s a turkey sandwich prepared in the Salvadoran way. In this, the turkey is marinated with garlic, spices, and local seeds. And then the turkey is roasted. 

Later, the turkey is placed between the bread and topped with tomato sauce and a variety of vegetables.
