A business entity that registers under the GST Act will need to obtain a unique number from the relevant tax authorities to collect taxes on behalf of the government and avail the Input Tax Credit for taxes on its inbound supplies. The GST registration process begins with the successful completion and submission of an application form. After verifying themselves as a GST payer or practitioner, applicants are required to provide important details and vital documents for verification. Once the registration process has started, interested parties will have to present the following documents:
Company and Applicant PAN Card: The Permanent Account Number (PAN) of the company and authorised signatories/applicants (e.g. directors/partners/holders) must be provided during the registration process.
Proof of identity along with photo: Documents such as Aadhaar card, PAN, Drivers licence, Passport or Electoral ID card can be provided.
Phone Number & Email ID – Valid Indian phone number and email address of the lead authorised signatory
Proof of address for place of business: The principal place of business is the principal place of business within the state in which the business is conducted, where the books and records of the business are maintained. Proof must be provided for each additional place of business in the state.
Any documents as proof of ownership of the premises viz. Latest Property Tax Receipt or Copy of Municipal Khata or Copy of Electricity Bill.Copy of valid rental/lease agreement/consent letter (if applicable). Valid Indian Bank Account Number: Details of bank accounts maintained for conducting business should be provided. Applicants can provide up to 10 bank accounts and need to fill in the Indian Financial System Code (IFSC) number of the same bank and branch.Other details to be provided
When registering through the gst service provider, applicants should also provide the following details:
A list of goods and services Proof of designation of authorised signatory (letter of authorization or copy of board resolution) The photo of the authorised signatories (digital copy) For Corporations and LLPs, the Class 2 digital signature of the person authorised to sign the GST application must be provided Deed of incorporation of the Company Regulatory registration details such as business tax, state excise licence details (if applicable)0
