We’ve talked about kitchen remodel before. But we’re not done yet. We’re ready to go even further. Let’s see what’s involved in the kitchen remodeling process.
Kitchen Remodeling 101: Designing the Kitchen
The first stage in the kitchen remodeling process is figuring out the design. Now is a great time to go back to the drawing board. This is when we begin to think about color. While the kitchen is the most used room in the home, we oftentimes do not give it much thought until we need to change it. The same goes for our bathrooms. When we are designing a space, we must consider the longevity of the space. A coat of paint on an entire wall is a quick fix that may last more than a few years. But, we should also think about the color that may affect the longevity of a home. It is important that we consider the comfort of the space when we are thinking about color. The average life of a kitchen, bathroom or laundry room is just over 6 years, according to Young House Love. So, we have to think about how comfortable we want the space to be. We don’t want our house to become a hot mess. We want to leave the home feeling fresh and new. The more choices we make when designing the kitchen, the more options we can end up with for remodeling. Most people will have 4-5 different choices when it comes to kitchen cabinets. That’s a lot of options. So, we have to be careful. We need to pick just the right ones. Ultimately, we need to start the kitchen remodeling process with a thorough survey of our kitchen. What needs to be done? How do we plan on using the kitchen in the next 6 years? That’s when we start to think about color. Once we know what the kitchen will be used for, we can create an aesthetic to match the space. Of course, we’ll also need to consider storage space. While we may not need that much storage space, it’s important that we’re able to store things efficiently and efficiently. The most important thing to remember when choosing colors isYou should never mix hues of the same color, even if you love them both. If you’re like me, you don’t love orange. But, you want a kitchen that is warm and inviting. So, my husband decided that we would go with orange cabinets and cabinets that were an even deeper orange. And, of course, the color looked gorgeous. Still, when we started planning for our kitchen, we didn’t just stop there. The color of the cabinets, of course, matters. But so does the finish of the cabinets. One of the easiest options we could make for our new kitchen was to change the cabinets. Our initial thought was to replace the existing cabinets with new ones. The first thought was to move all the cabinets. However, we quickly realized that we didn’t want to move the cabinets. We’re really happy with the way the cabinets were installed. We decided to take a different route, and we chose to change out the top part of the cabinets. We didn’t want to build a new kitchen from the ground up. So, we took a “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach. So, we thought about the options for changing the cabinets. We considered:
1. Stripping down all the cabinets and putting in new cabinets. 2. Replacing the cabinets with new ones. 3. Replacing the existing cabinets with new ones. The best option for us was option three. The other option would have been to build a new kitchen, and we didn’t want to do that. Instead, we decided to update our kitchen cabinets with new ones. Replacing the cabinets would have taken much longer than the other options. It would also cost a lot more money. We decided to put our money into the other two options: 1. We paid extra for granite countertops. 2. We decided to update the cabinets by updating the tops of the cabinets. So, we went with option 3 and changed our cabinets.Remodeling the kitchen with bold colors
To update the kitchen, we took a more bold route. Instead of updating the cabinets with new ones, we decided to update them with the boldest colors we could think of. As we talked about in my favorite cabinet colors post, white cabinets work best for kitchens with blonde or light blonde colors. However, blue cabinets are a perfect complement to any blonde-colored walls. It’s true that white is the most popular choice for cabinets, but if you want bolder cabinets, a vibrant blue works much better with the mix of hues. However, I didn’t want to just go with a bold blue. We wanted to make sure that the bright blue cabinets we chose complement the rest of the kitchen, so we also incorporated some of the natural colors. With the existing cabinets, we decided to do one of the following: A bold blue. This would be a bold blue. This would be a bold blue. A white base. A white base. A bold yellow. A bold yellow.0
